Sherman Alexie reads at Tulane October 24

Sherman Alexie

Acclaimed short story writer, screenwriter, and novelist Sherman Alexie will read, answer questions, and sign books on Monday, October 24, at 6 p.m. in the Kendall Cram Room of the Lavin-Bernick Center at Tulane University. More info here.

Alexie is the author of 20 books, including The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, which he adapted into the screenplay for the movie Smoke Signals, and has won a plethora of awards, including a Booklist’s Editors Choice Award, a National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, a PEN Faulkner award, and a PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Art of the Short Story. He was named by The New Yorker one of the top writers of the 21st century.

An offhand comedian, orator par-excellence, and possessor of supreme lyrical gifts, Alexie will be a pleasure to hear speak. His visit to New Orleans is thanks to Tulane’s “Writer’s Writer” reading series, which has previously hosted James Salter, Edmund White, and Deborah Eisenberg.
